Have you got what it takes?
Want to make you application get noticed? Need some tips before your assessment centre? Find out what our hiring managers have to say! They’ve also provided some details on what makes a good Placement Student – have you got what it takes?!
What makes a standout application?
“
Top Tip 1
Try not to state the obvious; don’t use general or common examples about your hobbies and achievements, or give a really easy response to “what is your favourite….”. Remember that the employer is reading potentially hundreds of applications and so the chances of seeing the same answer again and again is high. Think about what makes you different and interesting and weave that into your answers.

Top Tip 2
Showing a passion for and knowledge of film as well as awareness of and interest in media and digital is really important to us. As is a written style that seems natural yet eloquent and shows some originality.

Top Tip 3
First impressions count (even on paper): double check your CV and application and proofread for any grammatical errors – don’t just trust your computer spell check. Misspelling the company and/or department name is an immediate turn off.
